Muis krijgt bij mij thuis een eigen atelier -Mouse gets his own studio at home

Momenteel druk bezig met het schilderen en veranderen van onze overloop, trap, en hal beneden. Deze werkzaamheden werden goed in de gaten gehouden door Mus&Muis.

En zo kwam muis op het idee voor een eigen 'atelier' onderaan de trap. Na goed overleg, met afspraken, krijgt hij een ruimte. Voorzien van een deur, die hij op slot kan doen. 

Wat hij daar wil gaan doen of maken, geen idee. Hij kan niet eens een potlood of penseel vasthouden. Muis heeft mij verzekerd, dat hij iets speciaals gaat creëren en ook exposeren.

Deze werkzaamheden kosten tijd, vandaar tot eind juli geen blog.

De tekens op de kubussen - The signs of the cubics

Dit is voorlopig de laatste blog van Mus&Muis. Het verhaal gaat beslist verder, want uiteindelijk willen we (en muis) weten, wat er in die kubus zit. In januari gaan we eerst verder met het verhaal van Mr.P.&Sneezy.

Beknopte beschrijving van onderstaande pagina.
Op weg naar oom Viclar’s boom zien Mus en muis hele vreemde tekens op kubussen.
Scuffie legt het uit; de tekens op de kubus betekenen; pas op ‘windvlagen’, daarnaast ‘Grote waterval’. Alleen van 1 heeft oom nooit de betekenis kunnen ontdekken.
Muis denk het te weten.... Gevaar! Zijn verklaring; het is een neus en onderaan een gasbelletje dat uit de aarde komt.
Scuffie en mus kijken elkaar aan, maar twijfelen toch nog. ‘Wel leuk bedacht muis’, zegt mus.

De blauwe kubus - The blue cubic

Oh, wat was muis blij toen hij zag dat Scuffie op de startknop drukte. Hij hoorde de 2 propellors stationair draaien. Scuffie ging voor het bedieningspaneel zitten en schoof aan de knoppen van de propellors. En zo verliet de ‘Asturias’ de haven. Muis kijkt achterom en ziet dat Scuffie een andere route neemt. Hij wist nog toen hij voor het eerst ‘De Vergeten Kubus Vallei’ zag, ook oom’s boom kon zien.
Scuffie vertelt dat hij een andere route wil nemen om in de vallei de vreemde kubussen wil laten zien, waaronder de blauwe paddestoel kubus. Het luchtschip naderde een steile rots met een blauwe kubus. Toen muis dit zag was hij even stil. Bij de vele verhalen over kubussen kwam één zin in zijn gedachte... ‘eerst zien en dan geloven’. Nu hij deze kubus zelf zag, verdween deze zin.
Muis zagen een hele grote kubus van steen en voorzien vreemde tekens!

De Fulmaris - The fulmaris

In dit gedeelte vertelt Scuffie dat oom een zeer bijzonder soort wandelende takkensoort heeft ontdekt.

De Foliorumsaurus
Daar deze wandelende takken nog nooit ontdekt waren, heeft Viclar zelf een naam voor ze bedacht’. ‘Ik vind het een rare naam, zei muis. Als ik mocht kiezen zou ik ze blaadjessaurus noemen’. ‘Heel goed muis, dat heeft Viclar ook gedaan, want Blaadjes is in het Latijns; foliorum. En vervolgens heeft hij saurus er achter gezet’.
Omdat deze takken ongeveer 5x zo groot zijn als Viclar is hij ‘s nachts gaan kijken. Zo heeft hij gezien waar ze leven en met hoeveel tegelijk.
Deze Foliorumsaurussen zijn zeer goed gecamoufleerd, aangepast aan de bomen, waarin zij leven.In deze Kubus Vallei groeien bomen die bedekt zijn met korstmossen. Soms zijn die een beetje fel groen of oranje. Het kostte oom veel moeite om ze te ontdekken’.
Op deze pagina ziet muis een vreemde vogel. Dat is een Fulmaris. Hij is hele gek van de groene blaadjes met veel rode puntjes’. ‘Wat vreselijk voor die takken, wat kunnen die dan doen... wegrennen?’‘Nee muis, daar zijn ze te traag voor. Gelukkig is de Fulmaris ook niet snel tussen de vele takken. Zo gauw ze hem horen aankomen, duiken ze onderaan een hele dikke tak.

Clifsanobos - Clifsanowood

Mus en muis bekijken met grote verbazing naar de wandelende takken.
‘Waar leven die Rapidsaurolophussen eigenlijk’, vraag mus. Scuffie laat een kaart zien. Rappie vertelde dat er 4 takkenfamilies in de vallei wonen. Ieder familie heeft een eigen leefgebied met een vegetatie die bij hun past.Scuffie laat een kaart zien, die Viclar heeft getekend. 
De Rapidsaurolophussen leven op eenplateau die over een rivier hangt. Veilig in het Clifsanobos, omgeven door watervallen en stijle rotsen. 
Deze mooie omgeving gaan we later bekijken met oom’s Luchtschip.

Wandelende takken - Walking branches

Deze aflevering dat Mus&Muis in oom’s boekje wandelende takken zien. Hij was als kind helemaal gefascineerd van dinosaurussen. Wat gebeurde er...
Viclar wilde even uitrusten en bond zijn onderzoektas aan een tak. Plotselingging de tak omhoog met de tas. Toen zag Viclar dat het een grote wandelende tak was.
Het bleek een jonge tak te zijn, ondanks de lengte van 25 cm lang. Het was nog een jonge Rapidsaurolophus.
In het studieboekje schrijft hij over de Parasaurolophussen. Hij kreeg een vertrouwsband met deze jonge wandelende tak en mocht mee waar ze leven Het woord Rapid staat voor snel en geloof me, zij kunnen heel hard lopen. Volgende keer hun leefgebied en waar ze helemaal gek op zijn.

Blauwe gesluierde paddestoelen - Blue emigrated mushrooms

Mus en muis keken naar de volgende tekening van Viclar. Verbaasd zagen ze paddestoelen met een net erover. ‘Het wordt hier steeds gekker’, zei muis. Scuffie vertelt dat het oosterse paddestoelen waren, eeuwen geleden geëmigreerd naar de Kubus Vallei.

Hij heeft veel stuifzwam gemengd en die gebruikte hij in zijn waterpijp. Tijdens het schrijven in zijn onderzoekboekje gebruikte hij de waterpijp met stuifzwammen. Viclar werd een beetje ‘high’ van die waterpijp. Uiteindelijk heeft hij moeten ‘afkikkeren’. ‘Oh, zei mus, hij was een beetje verslaafd geworden’. Uiteindelijk heeft hij moeten ‘afkikkeren’.

Vlees etende paddestoelen - meat-eating mushrooms

Mus en Muis waren aan boord van het luchtschip

Terwijl ze de haven verlieten, liet Scuffie het werkboekje van oom Viclar zien. Daarin is het hele kubus vallei in kaart gebracht. Duidelijke topografische kaarten, de flora en fauna.
Bij het zien van afbeelding vlees etende paddestoelen moet muis toch een beetje lachen. Maar toen Scuffie vertelde dat we er straks langs komen.... schrok muis.
Het zijn de Blue Fungus paddestoelen. Ze worden geboren met 10-tallen tegelijk aan de zijkanten van de kubus en blijven daar een paar maanden.Daarna verlaat iedereen de kubus en maar blijft wel bij de kubus. Deze worden groter en groteren krijgen kruiptenen’. ‘s Nachts kruipen heel voorzichtig... op zoek naar voedsel.
‘En wat eten ze zoal’, vroeg mus. ‘Planten?’ ‘Jazeker’, was het antwoord’.
‘Ook kleine dieren? vroeg muis huiverend. ‘Beslist, denk aan slakken en kleine spitsmuisjes...’, was het antwoord.

Besturingsysteem van het luchtschip - Airship control system

Deze week weer 4 pagina’s van Mus&Muis. Hierin leg ik (Viclar) het besturing uit. Het kan varen en vliegen. Op de tekening de voorzijde van het luchtschip. Aan beide zijde 2 propellers. Deze kunnen ook naar een verticale veranderen. Dan gaat het schip omhoog.
Scuffie legt het besturingsysteem uit. Geen stuurwiel, maar simpele schuifpanelen. Het werkt als een roeiboot. Zie voorbeelden.
Scuffie laat een dagboeken zien van oom“s eerste reis. Naar het pannenkoek gebergte. Mus en muis moeten hier erg om lachen. Scuffie pakte een polaroid foto. ‘Kijk, een selfie, als bewijs’.

Oom's luchtschip - uncle's airship

Gelijk bij binnenkomst zagen Mus&Muis 2 grote schilderijen van het schip. ‘Kijk, dat heeft oom Viclar gemaakt’, zei Scuffie. ‘Het zijn de aangepaste schetsen van het schip en kleine schetsen.
In het begin zat er nog geenballon op het schip, die is pas later er boven geplaatst.Nog voor Scuffie iets kon vertellen moest muis hard lachen. ‘Wat is hieraan zo leuk om zo te lachen’, vroeg mus. Muis wijst naar de afbeelding van de bal. ‘Is die bal lek geworden toen je oom er op ging zitten?’ vroeg muis plagend. ‘Nee, helemaal links zie je een originele americanfootball-bal’, antwoordde Scuffie. Toen oom nog jong was, zat hij bij de ‘Frog Runners’.
Scuffie wilde verder gaan met het volgende schilderij, maar mus bleef gefascineerd kijken naar de mooie zeemeermin. ‘Zo’n mooie zeemeermin kan toch niet gevaarlijk zijn’, was het antwoord van mus. ‘Niet naar haar kijken, pas op’! Een zeemeermin mag je nooit aankijken. Ze is altijd gevaarlijk.
Dan vertelt Scuffie het verhaal van de zeemeermin. Daarin speelt een hond een belangrijke rol. De hond links is onze hond Tobey.
Oom is heel gefascineerd door een octopus, dat is te zien in de decoraties, zoals de deurknop in de stuurhut.

Welkom aan boord - Welcome on board

Welkom op de Asturias,’ klonk er ineens vanuit de boot. Opgelucht zagen ze hoe Scuffie, met een pet, hun welkom heette. ’Heb ik jullie even lekker in spanning gehouden, wie Asturias zou zijn.
Scuffie vertelt dat oom Viclar dit luchtschip heeft gebouwd. het heeft een heel speciaal boegbeeld. Bij onraad maakt hij een vreselijk geluid.
Tevens vertelt hij hoe oom op het idee gekomen is om zo’n schip te bouwen. Geïnspireerd toe zij een visballon voorbij zagen komen. Alleen heeft hij er iets bijzonders aan toegevoegd. En wat was Scuffie blij dat het ontbrekende kubus werd terug gebracht.
Dan kan muis eindelijk te weten komen wat er in zit.

On his first world trip uncle saw little birds that were busy in the crocodile's basin. They had no fear of being eaten. Those were crocodile guards, also called Egyptian plovers, an African bird. He looks for food residues and parasites between the teeth of crocodiles. You could call them dental hygienists. Uncle Viclar asks the crocodile guard if he can sit on the nose of this caiman for a time, because a lap with him is swimming. Is controlled.
Sneezy wonders why swimming with a caiman. He wants a swimming friend for home!
Uncle Viclar gets a special egg from the caiman. That egg would not be hatched, because it has a small bump on the side. Uncle takes it home, is cared for and a special caiman has come out. But then!

Ontmoeting met een groen boomkikker - Encounter with a green tree frog

Hier een korte samenvatting van deze 4 pagina's. Ze vervolgen hun weg door het paddepad. Er hangt een vieze, muffige geur. Als ze er doorheen zijn, zien ze een een grote boom met een deurtje. Verbaasd als ze een groene kikker zien. Het is een 'red eye frog, oftewel een groene boomkikker. Zijn naam is 'Scuffie'. Hij begroet uitbundig het tweetal. De kraai had hem al op de hoogte gehouden van hun komst. Reden van blijdschap; de kubus op het karretje was hij kwijtgeraakt. Muis geeft hem terug en vraagt wat er in zit. Hij krijgt nog geen antwoord.

Op pag. 9 beschrijf ik met veel fantasie de 'wetenschappelijk' paddestoel 'Hyacinthum illudpetasum’. 
Hyacinthum’ betekent blauw, ’illud’ is punt en ’petasum’, is een hoed’. ’En zo heb ik het woord ’blauwe punthoed’ opgebouwd’. Scuffie waarschuwt voor de kleine zwarte bolletjes.... je wordt er heel 'high' van. Op de tekening is de opbouw van deze paddestoel goed te zien. Let vooral op de speciale groeiwijze.
Tot slot beschrijf ik de ’Psilocybe caerulea’, deze lijkt op de Vliegenzwam en heeft ook witte stippen. ’En hoe heet hij dan in gewoon Nederlands?’, vroeg muis. ’De valse kopergroenzwam’. Hij kan wel 50 cm groot worden.
Voor ze naar de 'forgotten Valley' gaan, wil Scuffie eerst nog even sporten.

Muis vindt een kubus - Mouse find a cubic

Als mus op zoek gaat naar zijn vriend muis, ziet hij hem aankomen met een doosje op zijn wagentje.
Muis heeft geen idee wat er in zit. Zowel muis als mus zijn ontzettend nieuwsgierig. Helaas was het doosje niet te openen. Al kijkend ziet mus een vreemd slot en het is een kubus.
Gelukkig weet mus iemand die het waarschijnlijk wél kan openen. Hij weet ongeveer waar ze die kunnen vinden. Het een vreemd gebied waar ze naar toe moeten. Voor muis geen bezwaar, want hij wil het nu wel echt weten. Onderweg heeft hij het horen rammelen in deze kubus.
En zo ging het tweetal op pad, niet wetende dat ze in de gaten werden gehouden. Eindelijk over een enge smalle brug zagen ze een wegwijzer. 'Weet je zeker dat we die kant op moeten', vraagt muis. Dit pad zag er niet bepaald vriendelijk uit.
Word over 2 weken vervolgd.
