Met verbazing en ook een beetje angstig, zag Steampunky hoe Mushy de oude Blue Fungus met pollen voerde. Wanneer hij daarmee klaar was, wees hij naar het boek aan de zijkant van het wagentje.'Nu ben ik heel erg nieuwsgierig geworden naar het handboek van de tuinwachters!''Die heb ik van de week gemaakt, het is een mooi boek geworden. Een basisboek met een wisselende voorkant. 

Zo staat er voor Mushy oranje paddestoelen op zijn boek. Voor de muziekplanten komt er een andere illustratie in te staan. Daar moet ik nog wat voor bedenken.
'En wat staat er allemaal in?' 'Een overzicht van alle paddestoelen in die tuin met beschrijving én de verzorging. 
Steampunky mag het boek bekijken en wanneer hij meer leest is zijn verbazing nog groter. Zoveel vreemde en gekke paddestoelen staan hierin beschreven en getekend.

Gumpie kijkt me vragend aan; 'wat heb jij toch met paddestoelen? In je verhaal van 'Mus&Muis op strandvakantie' heb jij ook muis op een paddestoel getekend! 

'Klopt, paddestoelen zijn zo prachtig van vorm en kleur, daar kun je mee grappige illustraties van maken. In het werkboek van Mushy zal ik een paar voorbeelden laten zien'. Volgende week meer hierover.

Gumpie looks at me questioningly; 'What's the matter with mushrooms? You also drew a mouse on a mushroom in your story of 'Mus&Mois on beach holiday'!
'That's right, mushrooms have such a beautiful shape and color, you can make funny illustrations with them. In Mushy's workbook I will show a few examples'. More on this next week.

'Gumpie, deze week heb ik een aantal illustraties gemaakt, zoals het wagentje van Mushy. Hij is getimmerd door Pufmuis en ik heb hem vrolijk beschilderd. Hoe vindt je hem?'
'Zal ik mijn mening geven? Het is een vakantie-wagentje geworden, en géén werk-wagentje'.

'Waarom denk je dat?'
'Op de zijkant zit een zonneluifel. Daarnaast ook nog een bak met een boek en kaart. Wel leuk!' 'Gumpie, het is echt een werk-wagentje. Pufmuis moet het nog afmaken, want het wordt een elektrische wagentje. De stroom komt dan van die blauwe zonnepanelen. In de bak zitten 2 belangrijke dingen; het handboek voor de tuinwachter en de rol er naast is de plattegrond van de hele Magische Tuin'. 'Waarvoor een 'handboek?'

'Zal het je in het uitleggen. In dit handboek van Mushy staan alle paddestoelen afgebeeld die in deze tuin staan. Complete omschrijving en achtergrond informatie van alle paddestoelen. Zeer belangrijk is de verzorging en voeding'. 'Wacht even... paddestoelen die gevoerd moeten worden?' Steampunky had hier één ding geleerd... 'eerst zien, dan geloven!'
Samen vertrokken ze naar het het paddestoelenbos. Met verbazing zag hij hoe de oude Blue Fungus werd gevoerd. 

Mushy pakte het handboek en toonde de afbeelding van die paddestoel met omschrijving. 'Mag ik dat boek eens bekijken?' 

Tot zover ben ik deze week gekomen met het verhaal en de illustraties. Volgende week zal ik het handboek tekenen met een paar voorbeelden.
'Heeft elke tuinwachter zo'n boek?'. 'Jazeker, met een andere afbeelding op de voorzijde. 'Ben benieuwd hoe het boek van de muziekplanten er uit ziet'. 'Ik ook, daarvoor moet ik nog iets bedenken. 
Gumpie pakt zijn schildersezel. 'Wat vind je om een compleet andere muzieknoten schrift te maken voor de muziekplanten. Met groene bladnoten en geen 5 verticale lijnen, maar 3 golvende lijnen, en...'.
'Gumpie, leef je helemaal uit'.
Zo komen er steeds mee pagina's bij! Maar het is ook heerlijk om in je fantasie te kunnen leven!

14 februari 2022 Kussende bloem - 14 february Kissing Flower

 'Voor je verder gaat met je verhaal van Steampunky, heb je me heel, maar dan ook heel blij gemaakt. Je hebt een bloem in de tuin..... de 'Palesa e akang', en die zie nergens meer'. 'Gumpie, wat is er zo bijzonders aan die plant?'

'Zal ik je vertellen, heel lang geleden groeiden er klein lief plantje met 3 bloemen. Deze Palesa e Akang was een zeer populaire plant, helaas is hij is nu uitgestorven.

Aan de rand van de Tafelberg werd hij op 14 februari massaal geplukt in Zuid-Sotho'. 'Gumpie, bestaat die plek?' 'Jazeker, dat is in Zuid-Afrika.
Uit het Sesotho's, één van de elf officiële talen van Zuid-Afrika, heet deze plant 'Kussende bloem'. Wat maakt deze plant zo bijzonder. Je gaat met je wang zo'n 5 cm van de bloem zitten en blijf stil zitten. Niet bewegen, na ongeveer 1 minuut komt de bloem naar je toe en geeft je een klein kusje op je wang. Vandaar de naam 'Kussende bloem'. 

'Wat zou ik die graag in die tuin willen zien'. 'Gumpie, stof genoeg voor een 2e deel, alle eigenschappen van die planten'. 'Jammer dat je er een fout hebt gemaakt in de tekening bij die bloem'. 'Nee, beslist niet, hij is exact nagetekend! Wat heb ik dan verkeerd gedaan?'

'Boven de tekening van de bloem staat 'loeit' en dat doet hij echt niet!' 'Gumpie, onder de krul van het papier staat nog een B.
Guido zet op dit bord altijd een afbeelding welke bloemen er op dit moment 'BLOEIEN'.
En nu even voor de mensen die mijn blog volgen, een uitleg op dit bord. Voor nieuwe tuinwachters wordt uitgelegd hoe ze de 2 ringen van hun uniform moeten gebruiken. Deze vogels kunnen geen wagentje trekken met hun vleugels. Met behulp van een touw, verbonden aan de 2 onderste ringen kan hij een een voorwerp of zijn wagentje trekken'.
'En wat is nr. 2 voor een embleem?' Dat is het embleem van de tuinwachter van de muziekplanten. Daar vertel ik later veel meer over'.
Volgende week gaat Mushy, de tuinwachter van de paddestoelen, met zijn wagentje naar zijn tuin.

Met een schrik draaide Steampunky zich om en zag een vreemde vogel naast hem komen te staan. Die zag dat deze vogel met een gekke stok naar de plant wees. Daarna zakten de koppen van de plant tussen de bladeren en sloten hun bekken.

'Ze kunnen soms heel vervelend zijn!'.

Nu begrijp je onze belangrijke huisregel; 'altijd uit de buurt blijven bij onze planten en nergens aankomen!' Nog een beetje geschrokken keek Steampunky naar de vogel met een grappige muts. 

'Laat ik me eerst even voorstellen. Mijn naam is 'Mushy'. Ik ben de de tuinwachter van de paddestoelen'.
De tuinwachter van de muziekplanten was afwezig. Dat is de reden dat Mushy de paddestoelen met Steampunky bezoekt. Deze worden verzorgd én sommige 'gevoerd'. 'Paddestoelen die gevoerd worden?' 'Ja, in deze tuin zijn alle planten veganistisch geworden. Zo kunnen hier de insecten ongestoord leven'.
Steampunky kan dit verhaal nauwelijks geloven.... insecten-etende planten?
'Denk maar eens aan het plantje Zonnedauw. Dit plantje lokt, vangt en verteert insecten door een glinsterende, kleverige substantie aan diens tentakeltjes. De prooi dient om de plant te voorzien van voedingsstoffen die vrijwel afwezig zijn in de bodem waar de planten leven. Ook die worden door een tuinwachter verzorgd'. Steampunky mag mee in het aanhangwagentje en de honingpollen voor een speciale blauwe paddestoel.

'Nou, ik ben benieuwd hoe dat gaat en wat voor een paddestoel dit is'.
En zo gaat het stel naar de paddestoelentuin. Steampunky mag niet met zijn skateboard en stoomturbine in de tuin. Mushy trekt de wagentjes.
'Hoe kan een vogel nu een karretje trekken?' Dat laat ik volgende week zien, door middel van zijn uniform is dat mogelijk. Dan zie je de illustratie van het bord met aanwijzingen'.
'Weer een week wachten!'

Steampunky wordt achtervolgd door een reizen paddestoel; een PADDOKWAL.
'Ik zie dat hij stoom blaast tegen die kwal! Hoe loopt dit af?' Gumpie, hij blaast op zijn trompet en tegelijkertijd geeft hij een paar flinke stoomwolken onder die paddestoel. Daar schrikt hij van, want dit stoom is kokend heet. Niet lang daarna hoort Steampunky gekrijs van vogels en meteen verdwijnt deze PADDOKWAL.
Zie onder hoe de 2 pagina`s van het verhaal zijn geworden.

Schetsen voor de volgende week...

Steampunk moet wachten op een tuinwachter, die hem verder helpt. Terwijl hij wacht ziet hij een bijzondere plant en wil die beter bekijken. Achter hem hoort hij een stem die zegt; 'Niet aankomen!'
Volgende week is die illustratie gereed. Gumpie kijkt naar mijn schets. 'Ik heb een paar vragen; wat een vreemd hesje heeft die vogel aan? Waarvoor zijn die 2 ringen?'
'Gumpie, ik zal voor jou een schets maken, dan wordt alles duidelijk. Zo trekt hij het wagentje mee als hij de planten wil onderhouden en voederen'.

'Handig hè, want met zijn vleugels is dat onmogelijk'. Gumpie lacht. 'Planten voederen en ik zie een grote knots?'
'Ja, die schets van de knots is te groot, die wordt kleiner gemaakt. Voor je verder gaat met vragen, luister! Alle planten worden verzorgt door vrijwillige vogels, dat zijn de tuinwachters. Ze hebben een uniform met een embleem. Deze die ik nu teken heeft een paddestoel, want hij verzorgt de paddestoelen. De oude 'Blue Fungus, devorator, kan moeilijk voor zich zelf zorgen. Die krijgt 2x per week voeding. En de stok met een bol heet; Pribo. Elke tuinwachter heeft die standaard bij zich'.

Gumpie, he's blowing his trumpet and at the same time he's giving some big clouds of steam under that mushroom. That scares him, because this steam is boiling hot. Not long after, Steampunky hears birds screeching and immediately this MUSHROOM disappears. See above how the 2 pages of the story turned out.

In the Magic Garden
Steampunk has to wait for a garden keeper to help him further. While he waits, he sees a special plant and wants to take a closer look. Behind him he hears a voice saying; 'Do not touch!'
That illustration will be ready next week. Gumpie looks at my sketch. 'I have a few questions; what a strange vest that bird is wearing? What are those 2 rings for?'
'Gumpie, I'll make a sketch for you, then everything will be clear. For example, he pulls the cart with him when he wants to maintain and feed the plants'.
'Handy, isn't it, because that's impossible with his wings'. Guppy laughs. "Feeding plants and I see a big club?"
